This website and the project it describes are the work of the John C. Wood II Foundation, a 501c3 organization incorporated in Massachusetts.
The Foundation is wholly self-supporting and will not solicit for donations or other operating support.

The Foundation memorializes the death of John C. Wood II, who was a surgical resident at New York's Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital when he was gunned down in a random street-corner confrontation/robbery as he was buying a snack to take home to his pregnant wife.

John Wood's untimely death not onl
y deprived himself, his family, his colleagues and his patients of the joys and values of his existence but is typical of the 100,000+ gun assaults which we somehow absorb each year.

Eliminating the kinds of guns which are used to commit most of this violence would not only protect this country from the the scourge of gun violence, but would be a fitting memorial to the millions whose lives have been lost or shattered by senseless and preventable violence caused by guns.
